On June 15th, 2024, God called my Beautiful Momma, Yvette Darcel (Batey) Smith (2/10/1962 – 6/15/2024) home. She spent her last days at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN. She was a young 62 year old.

Yvette was born on February 10th, 1962, in Rutherford County. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she found God at an early age. She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1979. She spent the majority of her work experience in the warehouse industry where she met the love of her life, Darrin Smith, Sr. They met at Nissan and he told her she was going to be his wife. They married on June 22nd, 2013, and they were truly inseparable until the very end.

Yvette was a loving Momma, loving Wife, loving Sister, loving Nana, loving Aunt, and an amazing Friend. She was funny, feisty, kind and loving. She was involved in her Church, Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church where her faith got stronger with God. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 100. Her favorite place to eat was Casey Jones (Casey Jones food is Fye!!).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Bertha Batey; her brother, Baron Batey; and grandparents, Napoleon and Josephine Batey and Joe and Bessie Akins.

Yvette is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Darrin Smith, Sr.; her four children, LaToya (Casey aka “Chef Boyardee”) Corbin, Jamaal (JoJo) Blackman, DeAndrae’ Blackman and Antwon Blackman; stepson, Marcus Laws; stepdaughter, Kahlesia Laws; her little big sister, Calvet (Curtis) French; 12 grandkids; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and her best friends, April Carter, Laura Alexander and Denise Smith.

She had a smile that would light up a whole room. She will truly be missed, but she will never be forgotten. She is looking down with a smile on her face. We love you always Yvette Darcel (Batey) Smith.
