Virginia Diane Alexander-Springer's Service

Mrs. Virginia Diane Springer-Alexander, affectionately known to all as “Punkin”, peacefully departed this life at the age of 77 on Monday, June 1, 2026, at The Waters of Smyrna in Smyrna, Tennessee.

A Beautiful Beginning & Foundation

Virginia Diane was born on New Year's Day, January 01, 1949, in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up in the vibrant heart of Nashville, she received her early education through the Davidson County Schools. Driven by a natural desire to heal and comfort others, she went on to earn her Nursing Degree, setting the stage for a lifetime of dedicated service.

Love, Family, and Devotion

At an early age, Diane was united in holy matrimony to Stanley Springer, Sr., who preceded her in death. Together, they laid a beautiful foundation of love and family. Later in life, she found love again and wed Perry Alexander. For 34 wonderful, blessed years, Diane and Perry stood side by side as devoted partners in life, sharing a deep bond, countless memories, and an enduring devotion to one another.

A Lifetime of Selfless Service

Diane's professional life was a reflection of her giant heart. Armed with her nursing background, she worked for many years as a Behavioral Social Worker. She dedicated her career to uplift, counsel, and advocate for displaced individuals and recovering addicts. She saw value in everyone and spent her days helping people rebuild their lives with dignity. Before retiring from Renewal Hause Recovery Home for Women and Children, Diane worked as a Life Enrichment Administrator. Beyond her career, "Punkin" always had time to show her love and care for other families. Although she wasn’t a social bee, her doors and her heart were always open to anyone in need.

Her Greatest Joy

Nothing brought a brighter smile to Punkin’s face than her family. In her later years, her absolute greatest joy was staying connected to her vast legacy. After many hours of learning how to text and video chat, she deeply cherished spending hours looking at photos and chatting via video calls with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Distance was never a barrier to her love, and those digital moments of laughter and updates were the highlights of her days.

Her Enduring Legacy

Diane “Punkin” Springer-Alexander was deeply loved by her many cousins and friends, leaving behind a legacy of absolute selflessness, warmth, and joy. She leaves to cherish and mourn her precious memory: Her loving husband: Perry Alexander; daughters: Danita, Latricia, and Fredricka; One son: Stanley Springer, Jr.; One sister: Sandra (deceased); Six protective brothers: John William, Michael, Barry (deceased), Alan, Orrin (Claudia), and Joseph (Yolanda); Sixteen grandchildren; Twenty-two great-grandchildren; A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and lifelong friends.

Though her physical presence is gone, her bright spirit, her compassionate soul, and the love she so freely gave will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Rest in peace, Punkin.
