Susie Mai Cason, age 77, was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, but her home was in Smyrna, TN. She peacefully departed this life on May 7, 2026.

Born on January 23, 1949, to the late Richard Green Cason and Ollie Bee Cason, Susie lived a life filled with faith, love, kindness, and devotion to family. She retired from the Rutherford County Board of Education on May 4, 2011, after many years of faithful service.

Susie enjoyed watching game shows, cheering for the Golden State Warriors, and playing softball. She proudly played shortstop and was a member of the "Soul Sisters" softball team, which won the 1972 Tennessee Women's Open Slow Pitch Championship in Chattanooga.

Those who knew Susie knew she was truly one of a kind — funny, caring, sweet, honest, and direct. She never hesitated to help anyone in need and always made people feel loved and welcomed.

She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the choir and on the usher board for many years.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her devoted late partner, Earnest W. Elder Sr.; her children, Stacy Cason and Janeyell (Robert Jr.) Mason; her grandchildren, Chelsey Williams and Deonte Cason; three great-grandsons; her sisters, Katie Murray (Raymond) of Detroit, MI and Alma Earline Blackman of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, Vera Crawford of Murfreesboro, TN; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends.

A special acknowledgment is extended to Jane Ross, Angela Swader, and Linda McCroskey for their love, friendship, unwavering support, and the many cherished memories shared throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Cason; her parents; and her siblings, Richard Crawford, John R. Cason, and Josephine Briggs.

Susie Mai Cason will forever be remembered for her loving spirit, laughter, strength, and unwavering kindness toward others.
