The Rev. John E. Brown, Jr. passed in peace on May 2, 2015. John Jr. was born in Shelbyville Tennessee to Rev. John E. Brown, Sr. and Dorothy Jean Brown on August 15, 1964. He lived approximately 18,537 days, 15 hours and 5 minutes of his life. He leaves in peace to mourn for just a short time his beloved wife Gracen Harrison-Brown, married on October 4, 2014. His daughter Donavan Olivia Brown, a son Isaiah Daniel Brown, and two step daughters Kennedy Harrison and Adaira Harrison. Two sisters, Vivian Cornish (Tony) and Janice Evans of Houston Tx. (Warren) Two brothers, Charles Crockett of Murfreesboro, and Emanuel Brown (Dixie) of Nashville Tn. He likewise left an entire host of wonderful first cousins, very special father-like figure uncles, a host of beautiful and sincere aunts, and his play sisters for life next door Carolyn, Selene Joyce, Angela Legge and many, many close friends and relatives.

He was a graduate of Shelbyville Central High and after attending numerous colleges and universities across the country he graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Criminal Justice and Business Management. John was also an Eagle Scout from Troop 370 in Shelbyville, Tn. (Franklin Smith-Scout Master) He was member and Associate Pastor with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville Tennessee, where his father the Rev. John Brown Sr. is the Senior Pastor. Though he was just a member for a short time he loved the members of the church and especially the youth of the church and had goals for wanting to see them and as well at Mt. Olive succeed and move forward. He labored proactively in law enforcement for over 21 years and started his law enforcement career in Bedford County as a Sheriff’s Deputy in 1991under Sheriff Don Edwards.
From there he served with the: Nashville Airport Police and Fire Department, Full time Police Officer and Fire Fighter, Franklin Police Department, COP unit, Swat Team, Crime Suppression Team, Criminal Investigator with the Office of the District Attorney in Franklin, Tennessee, Metro Nashville Police Department, Criminal Investigator with the Office of Inspector General. He also completed a host of training academies such as: Graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement training academy 1992, Graduate of the FBI National Academy 1999, Served in the United States Navy Reserve 1986, Served in the Tennessee Army National Guard1994, (Military Police/ 31 Bravo).

Before falling ill John served as Criminal Justice Instructor at Daymar College and Remington College in Nashville, Tn. While working within the various state agencies and police departments he has received awards for community service, and crime prevention as related to white collar crimes, gang investigations, domestic violence abuse, homicide investigations and fraud investigations. He also has his real estate license and has worked part-time as a real estate agent for 8 years and was the first African American Board Member with the Fairview Recreational Association in Fairview Tn.
