Preonda Chiffon Simpson was born August 7, 1992, in Nashville, TN, to Mary Grace Simpson and Ardiss Armstrong. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly mansion on December 27, 2022.
Preonda graduated from Shelbyville Central High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball and softball. Following high school, she attended Middle Tennessee State University and received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Preonda was a faithful member of Bright Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Larry J. Crismon. She and Tahj were in regular attendance to Sunday service.
Preonda met the love of her life, Tahj R Wells Sr, in 2008. Together over the span of 14 years, they formed a happy union. Tahj proposed to Preonda in 2019. They planned to marry in 2023. They owned and operated Wells Legacy Real Estate LLC and No Looking Back Trucking Company LLC.
Preonda had many babies in her life. Aleriyah was her first. She became Preonda’s “baby” when she was just 3 months old. They had a very special bond and Aleriyah has always called Preonda Mommie. Preonda promised to love, support, cheer, encourage, guide, protect, and has always kept Aleriyah in her heart. Tahj’s niece, Zyonna (Z Bug), was another of Preonda’s babies. Preonda appreciated Z Bugs parents for trusting her to watch over Z Bug whenever she came to visit, which was often. She gave Z Bug all her love and attention just like she was her own.
Doctors said “no” that she would not be able to have children, but GOD said, ”YES.” On February 3, 2021, Preonda gave birth to a baby boy, Tahj Rashad Wells Jr, who was an absolute joy to her. Her love for children flourished further as she was very devoted to nurturing and caring for him as a stay at home mom. She affectionately called him Jun Jun and he could do no wrong. His arrival completed Preonda and Tahj’s family. He was a wish come true.
Preonda was very much all about family. She loved to plan, along with her brother Dominique, their mother’s birthday party at the bowling alley each year; going out to dinner with the family (Preonda made the call to the restaurant to get us on the list); and taking the kids on outings to the library, to the zoo, the playground. She always wanted the family to go to breakfast at Cracker Barrel on Saturday mornings. She loved to travel. She loved to take pictures and those close to her knew that she would always jump into your pictures to be sure she was included. Or just take your camera to take a picture of herself for you! She loved to take pictures. Preonda was just a fun loving, straight talking, helpful, generous, wonderful woman.
Preonda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lon E and Elizabeth Simpson and Willie E and C Gladys Armstrong; Aunts Annett Woodard and Gladys E Warfield; Uncles Floyd (Randy) Gant and Akin (Donnie) Armstrong.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Tahj (Jun Jun) Rashad Wells Jr; true love Tahj Rashad Wells Sr; God daughter Aleriyah Walker; mother Mary Grace Simpson; father Ardiss (Deborah) Armstrong; sister Janay Armstrong; brothers Patrick (Kelly) Simpson, Dominique Simpson, Quentin Armstrong and Eric Harris; aunts Sherry (Tommy) Allen, Joyce Ann Gant, Claudia V Scott and Temika Turrentine; uncles James (Deta) Gant, David Gant, Willie E Armstrong and Ricky Armstrong; Great Aunt Annie Ruth Mayes and Great Uncle Garfield (Clora) Nicholason; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
