Orrin Craig Murray was born on May 15, 1958, to the late Reverend Joseph W. Murray Sr. and the late Mrs. Cornelia C. Batten Murray in Murfreesboro, TN.

He was educated in the Rutherford County School District and graduated from Smyrna High School in 1976 where he was active on the Drill Team, ROTC, and the Wrestling Team. He received advanced education at the Nashville State College in Auto Mechanics. He was also an experienced and excellent concrete mason, a trade passed on from father to son within the Murray family for generations.

Being raised by God fearing parents, Craig accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized under the tutelage of the late Reverend O.C. McClain and became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Smyrna Tn. where he attended and traveled with his father to support his ministry at his churches over the years.

Craig was loved by friends and family for his caring and tender-hearted nature. Because of his “mechanics” skills, he was everyone’s go to for car troubles. However, as many cars as he repaired, he wrecked his fair share, thus earning him the nickname of “Crash Murray” by his closest family members.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted brother, Retired US Army Lt. Colonel Joseph W. Murray II and wife Janice of Merritt Island, FL, a devoted uncle Isiah Kelley Sr. of LaVergne, TN, niece, US Army Chaplin Major (P) Janell A. Myhren and husband US Army Major Benjamin Myhren of Fort Riley, KS, nephew(s) US Army Major Joseph W. Murray III and wife Jennifer of Baton Rouge, LA, James A. Murray of Tallahassee FL. and Darran Mosley of Bloomington Ind, 3 grandnieces, 1 grandnephew, a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
