Nancy Marie Miller or “Grandma Miller” as she was affectionately called was born June 24, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Andrew and Della Miller. Nancy transitioned from this earthly life to be with the Lord on May 28, 2016.

Nancy committed her life to Christ at the Johnson Rd Church of Christ in Christiana. She later moved her membership to the Sand Hill Church of Christ to support her son in law and daughter, Albert & Judy Nelson, in ministry where she served faithfully. You could always count on Nancy to visit those who were sick, encouraging young people and lending a hand to anyone in need. It didn’t take long before everyone young and old no longer referred to her as Ms. Miller or Sis. Miller she became everyone’s Grandma and they were her “pumpkins”. Nancy made an impression of love on every person she met and her presence has blessed the lives of countless individuals.

Nancy was educated in the Rutherford county school system and worked several years at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center where she retired. She loved serving others and decided to go back to working part time at Adams Place for several years. Even after she retired fellow coworkers still kept in touch with her and even paid her to cook her famous chicken and dressing or peach cobbler.

Nancy was passionate about her family and cooking and loved bringing the two together. You could always count on her to call each of her family members, cook each person’s favorite foods and bring everyone around the table to enjoy wonderful food and fellowship. During the meal you would see her simply sitting in the background loving the smiles and laughter which filled her home. She would often say, “After I’ve cooked all that food I don’t feel like eating but watching you all eat and enjoying your meal fills me up.”

Nancy leaves five children to cherish her memory George Miller, Judy (Albert) Nelson, Kay (Marvin) Crocker of Bolingbrook, IL, Tony (Lynn) Miller of Smyrna, TN and Anita (Thomas) McAdoo. She leaves behind two sisters Alline Lanier and Carlice

Knox; three brothers Andrew (Faye) Miller, Roger (Kay) and James Miller of Cincinnati, OH; one sister in law Mai Miller; and four step-sisters and four step-brothers.

Nancy loved her grandchildren and her beautiful spirit will live on in each of them. Those grandchildren left to cherish her memory are Demetrius (Shounika) Nelson, Detrick (Sherrill) Nelson, Brandon (Kim) Nelson, Deron Nelson, Michael (Dagna) Hicks, Darius McAdoo, Brandi McAdoo, Nathan Crocker, Noelle Crocker, Tony Miller Jr, Raven Miller & Rachel White. She also has 12 great grandchildren and four godchildren (Spencer, Abi, Tiffany “Tip Tap” and Cory) who will all greatly miss their Grandma Miller.
