Sarah Alice Armstrong, lovingly known as “Mother Armstrong”, was born in 1936 in Sunflower County, MS to the late Leon James and Ethel Lee Turner. She departed this earthly life November 12, 2022, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family.
Mother Armstrong migrated to Chicago, IL where she met and married the love of her life, Odell Armstrong and merged their blended family together as one. While in Illinois, she was a member of Glad Tiding Apostolic Church under the leadership of Elder Bernard Kendricks. She truly believed that cleanliness was next to Godliness so she owned and operated Sarah & Associates Cleanings for many years. Spending over 40 years building their legacy, they decided to retire and relocate to Murfreesboro, TN.
Mother Armstrong was a member of New Hope Church of God in Christ for 25yrs and was a faithful member of the Mothers Board. Her ministry and or gift was her ability to show LOVE. Everyone who crossed paths encountered her witty sense of humor, beautiful smile, her giving spirit and shared words of encouragement. But rest assure she was always going to pray for you before you left her presence.
Mother Armstrong never met a stranger and was well known around the Murfreesboro community as the “lady with the silver hair” and because of that, their blended family grew with a host of spiritual daughters and sons, far too many to name.
Mother Armstrong was preceded in death by four of her siblings, Ezell James, Flora Cooper, Christine Long and Cornelius Wilson; two daughters, Alice Maxwell and JoAnn Robinson; and one grandson, Brandon Anderson.
Mother Armstrong leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband, Odell Armstrong; five children, Deborah (Daniel) Brooks, Darryl (Rochelle) Anderson, Nikita (Stanford Jr.) Lyons-Murry, Evetta Lundin and William (Darlene) White; sister, Jenora James Kelly; 13 grandchildren, Wallace Maxwell, LaShonda Anderson, Christopher Lundin, Deea Hardison, Keenan Lyons, Destyni Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Evan Murry, Kahliya Murry, Darryl Anderson Jr., Anita Harris, Denise Kelsor and William Kelsor Jr.; 24 Great-Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren; 2 bonus daughters, Shirley Easley and Robbie Snapp; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
