Rosie “May” Nelson was born October 22, 1948 to the late Rosie and Gabe Chesterfield in Barfield, Tn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Nelson, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Jerry Nelson and Johnny Nelson; sister-in-law, Judy Nelson; nephew, Andre’ Chesterfield; and great nephew, Latre Lillard.

May attended Rutherford County public schools until her senior year at Holloway High School. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church where she was choir member and later joined the Mother’s Board. May also enjoyed cooking all types of food so much that her and her sister, Gloria Gaines started a catering business, Sister to Sister. She was very involved with her children and traveled many places. Dixie Travelers, Traveling Stars, CFC, etc. May played softball and basketball but loved bowling and received many awards for winning competitions.

May leaves to cherish her lasting memories, her children, Cynthia Nelson, Richard C. (Shantavia) Nelson, Sharonica (Selwyn) Jones and Gaberial Nelson; sisters, Gloria (Frank) Gaines, Fatima Chesterfield, Thelma Chesterfield, Velma (Bruce) Mitchell and Darlene Chesterfield; brothers, Larry (Elaine) Chesterfield, Andrew Chesterfield, Jerry (Toni) Chesterfield, Jessie Chesterfield and Donald Chesterfield; grandchildren, Latreka (Terrance) Hughes, LaShonda (Robert, Jr.) Gooch, Rodriques Alexander, Richard (Maurie) Nelson, III., Solei Nelson, Steven Nelson, Savion Jones, Daryl McGee, Gaberial Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Jamecyn Bowen and Jaaziah Bowen; eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Tuggle, Sarah (Jerry) Holman, Marion Nelson and Jimmie Gertrude Shannon; brothers-in-law, Tommy (Betty) Nelson, George (Vanessa) Nelson, William (Marie) Nelson, Sr., Albert (Judy) Nelson, Clarence (Deborah) Nelson and Pleas (Jenee’) Nelson; along with a host of other relatives and friends
