Ora Jean Ransom departed this earthly life Wednesday, October 16, 2019. She was born June 27, 1930 in Nashville, TN to the late Georgia Anna Starnes and Jesse Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Ransom and two brothers, Jesse Buchanan and Veron; one son, David Ransom.

Ora Jean Ransom accepted Christ at the age of thirteen and was baptized in August 1943 at Beech Grove M.B. Church under Pastor H.L. Jordan. She was united in holy matrimony in June of 1953 to John W. Ransom for over 60 years and from this union thirteen children were born. She was a member of the Mother board and also served as church secretary.

Ora Jean loved the church and her family. She worked at Durango Boots for 15 years. She was homemaker for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memories seven sons, James (Carolyn) Buchanan, Charles (Natalie) Buchanan, John (Vanessa) Ransom, Jesse (Vickie) Ransom, O’Neal (Regina) Ransom, George (Melissa) Ransom and Richard Ransom all of Shelbyville, TN; five daughters, Ruby (Larry) Knoxx, Dorothy Sutton, both of Shelbyville, TN, Betty (Jerry) Esmond of Unionville, TN, Barbara G. Ransom and Denise (Robert) Kelso of Shelbyville, TN; sisters-in-law, Mary (Clay) Knox of Shelbyville, TN, Ora Ann Benford, Sue Ransom of Murfreesboro, TN; brother-in-law, Joe (Evette) Ransom; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
