Mrs. Mildred C. Freeman Spann was born on April 27, 1939 in Rutherford County to Joe and Gencie Newman. She departed this life on Friday, September 7, 2018. Mildred was educated in the Rutherford County School System and was a graduate of Holloway High School. She accepted Christ at an early age where she served the Lord tirelessly. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Goodlettsville, TN where she attended faithfully until her health failed. After countless years of working at Chromalox, she retired to continue pursuing her true passion of baking and helping people. Mildred was known for her homemade yeast rolls and caramel cake. Her unconditional love for her family will be forever missed.

Mildred was preceded in death by her father, Joe Newman Jr.; first husband, Thomas W. Freeman, Sr.; son, Joseph Freeman, Sr.; uncle, Horace Smith; Granddaughter, Jasmine Freeman; Great Granddaughters Autumn Freeman and Shyln Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Thomas G. Spann; mother, Gencie Mai Newman; children, Sophia (Eric) Freeman and Thomas (Cuturia) Freeman, Jr; loving and devoted aunts, Lolies (Jean) Newman and Maibell Newman; devoted cousin, Vivian (Andrew) Miller; sisters-in-law, Cornelia Cooper, Shellie North, Viola Malone and Dora Freeman; brothers-in -law, James Spann, Collier (Mary) Freeman and Jesse Freeman; devoted grandchildren, Yentl Bigsby and Joseph Freeman, Jr.; grandchildren, Jason Polk, Koneika Wimberly, Shanika Freeman, Latoria Jones, Thomas Adams, Todd Freeman, Thomas Freeman III, Jamell Freeman, Anthony Hunt, Destinae Wilson, James Wynn and Cherish Freeman; 14 great grandchildren; favorite neighbor, Jimmie Shannon; and lifelong friends, Hazel Patton, Deborah Tuma and Lizzie Summers.
