Mary Johnson Madding left this earthly life at the age of 69, on Sunday, January 8, 2023.  She was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on January 15, 1953, to the late Hattie L. Smith and Andrew James Todd.

Mary Madding was recognized as being the first African American Female Firefighter in the history of Murfreesboro.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie L. Smith; father, Andrew James Todd; and brother, Rufus McKnight.

Mary leaves to cherish her two sons, Stephen (Kim) Johnson and Kenric (Kashka) Greene; stepson, Darelco Johns; two brothers, Darrin (Charlotte) Smith and Joe Robert (Dorothy) Smith; grandchildren, Hunter Greene, Layton Greene, McKenzie Johnson, Kendall Greene, Brey Johnson and Kamaiya Johnson; step granddaughter, Lilly Canupp (mom, Cassie Canupp); step grandson, Crizavier Dowell; great grandchildren, Atlas Johnson, Lyrix Styles and Amberlyn Greene; two devoted friends, Mrs. Estelle and Mrs. Henreda; and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
