Ms. Mary Belle Johnson was born June 29, 1942 in Murfreesboro, TN to the late Frank Johnson and the late Delida Johnson. She went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2019. It was a peaceful transition at the age of 76.

She was a graduate of Holloway High School where she ran track with Wilma Rudolph. She was employed by Academy Loose Leaf for over 20 years.

Mary was a beautiful person with a wonderful joyous heart. Being around Maybell guaranteed a good time and a lot of laughter. She was a loyal member of Stone River P.B. Church where she joined under the leadership of Pastor John C. Lee.

She was one of the founding members of the gospel group “The Wonderettes”, which performed for over 30 years in the Nashville, Murfreesboro area.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Cornise “Grilly” Johnson; three sisters, Stella Hailey, Regina Johnson and Brenda “Honka” Johnson; one brother, Harold “Peter” Johnson; one nephew, John “June Bug” Nance; and one grandson, Larry Gamble.

She leaves to morn her passing, one uncle, Acie Lawrence; one daughter, Kitty Johnson; two sons, Vincent (Amy) Johnson and Kelvin Johnson; one sister, Zonna Johnson; six brothers, Clifton (Darlene) Johnson, Clinton (Virginia) Johnson, Kenneth (Carolyn) Johnson, Larry (Donna) Johnson, Ronnie (Nancy) Johnson and Joe Frank (Vonda) Johnson; grandchildren, Jermillya, Shakendra and Regga-Nay Johnson, LaNay Gamble, Tiara Bailey, Justin Rucker, Aleshia Buford and Cedric Meneese; devoted friend, Judy Batten; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
