Margaret Thompson was born on Sunday November 28th, 1943 to the late Walter and Tommie Cannon in Shelbyville TN. Margaret departed this life after a long illness at Beaumont Hospital in Detroit MI, on August 4th at 6:28p.m., with her beloved family at her side.

Margaret joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She went to Bedford County Training School, what is now Harris High School, where she met her childhood sweet heart, Paul Donnie Thompson. Donnie and Margaret got married on March 2nd of 1964. They were married for 51 years until his death in September 2015.  To this union, Margaret and Donnie had four children born, one girl and three boys. Margaret and Donnie adopted another son, Carl Yancy Thompson, who precedes her in death.

Margaret worked at Bedford County Hospital in Shelbyville when she then moved to Detroit in 1973. Margaret obtained a job in STNA Nursing, and was a foster parent for the city of Detroit. She also worked at the Warner Brothers Warehouse. Margaret loved watching television, listening to music, traveling and keeping her grandchildren.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved children, one daughter, Donna L. Thompson of Shelbyville, TN; three sons, Paul (Stephanie) Thompson Jr., Ronald (Tracie) Thompson and Morgan Thompson, all of Detroit, MI; three sisters, Mary (Joe) Moore of Shelbyville, TN, Clara (Waymon) Lanier of Cleveland, OH and Shatoria Altman from Detroit, MI; three brothers, Tommy L. Cannon, Henry Cannon and Michael (Rochelle) Cannon, all from Detroit, MI; mother-in-law, Mrs. Ester Ellis of Shelbyville, TN; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Thompson and Vivian Barclay of Shelbyville, TN; six grandchildren, Paulie, Jaylon, Jasmine, Charity, Mekhi and Kha’Ron; one step-grandchild, Ta’vis; two great-grandchildren of Detroit, MI; one aunt, Lilian Jean Daniels of Shelbyville, TN; and a host of beloved Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other Relatives and Friends.
