Mrs. Gloria Jean Cheers Russell was born on August 5, 1960 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late Reverend James W. Cheers, Sr. and Mother Lucille Smith Cheers.

Gloria, called “Glory” by her family and friends, went home to be with God, retired from her labors here on earth on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford hospital.

Glory was educated in the Murfreesboro and Rutherford Co. School system, attending Bradley, Mitchell Neilson and Central High School.

Glory had a big kind heart of gold.  She loved giving to people and making them happy.  Every holiday or birthday, family or church, even the kids, you can look for Glory, she is coming with a gift bag.  She will be missed by her family and her church family.

She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Brandon Chapel M.B. Church under Elder Frank Brown.  She later moved her membership to Silver Springs under Pastor Moses Pope and when they ventured out to form Spring Hill M.B. Church, she joined them and remained there through the leadership of Pastor Pope and Reverend Overton, until her day God called her home, Tuesday, July 10, 2018.  Glory was employed and retired from Whirlpool Corporation after many years of service.

On October 21, 1977, Gloria was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Joe Billie Russell, Sr. by Rev. Moses Pope, Pastor of Spring Hill M.B. Church.  To this union there were four children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James and Lucille S. Cheers; siblings, John E. Smith, Mary Malone Pryor Jimmy L. Malone and Georgia McMurray.

Gloria leaves to celebrate her life, husband of 40 years, Joe Billie Russell, Sr.; one son, Joe B. Russell, Jr.; daughters, Latasha N. Russell of Nashville, TN, Chiquita (Brandon) Thomas of Pensacola, FL and Jonae (Christopher) McKinney of Murfreesboro, TN; 12 brothers & sisters, Elder James (Elder Linda) Cheers, Jerry (Elizabeth) Cheers, Sr., Johnny (Lisa) Cheers, Sr., Andre (Janice) Cheers, Larry Cheers, Rosie L. Goins, Ella B. Malone, Mattie S. Malone, Dorothy C. Owens, Rita (Jerry) King, all of Murfreesboro, TN, Ella F. Rugley of Cleveland, OH and Carolyn (Ricky) Smith, Sr. of Lebanon, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda (William) Sparkman of Arrington, TN, Patricia (Seth) Oden of Franklin, TN, John (Brenda) Russell, William (Marie) McClain, Claude McClain, all of Shelbyville, TN, Cheryl Thompson, Terri Thompson, Shirley (Carl) Patton, Jerry Thompson, all of Nashville, TN and Joe Jr (Regina) Thompson of Chapel Hill, TN; and many many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, family and the Spring Hill family.
