Eva Mae Woodson was born January 16, 1924 in Marianna, Arkansas to Classie Coppage and Arthur Walker.  She peacefully departed her life on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Northside Rehabilitation Center at the age of 97.

After attending school and growing up in Marianna, Arkansas, she moved to St. Louis, MO where she met and married Robert Hailey.  She lived in Missouri for many years working in the dry cleaning industry as a silk presser.  She attended the Original Friendship Baptist Church for over 20 years.  She served on the Pastor’s Aide and was a faithful choir member.  She also sang in several quartet groups and travelled the United States performing in church programs and outdoor events.

Eva later moved to Detroit, MI in 1973 where she continued to work and attend church.  In 1996 she retired and joined in holy matrimony with Jimmie Lee Woodson and they moved to Murfreesboro, TN and joined First Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Richard Gordan.  She served on the Mother’s Board and of course, she was a devoted choir member. Eva was also a member of the Democratic Women of Murfreesboro, TN.

In her later years she began attending The Worship Center under the leadership of pastor David Settles.

Singing was her life until the very end.  Many days you could hear her singing “When I Rose This Morning, I Didn’t Have No Doubt”.  The nurse at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital would tell the family, “Your mom and I were singing the morning”.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one brother, Andrew Walker; one sister, Lillie Mae Hill; one daughter, Diane Wills.

Eva leaves to cherish her precious memories, a devoted daughter, Shirley Easley of Murfreesboro, TN; two daughters, Loretta (Ismail) Rashad of Milwaukee, WI and Elnora Foster of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Michelle Easley; great grandson, Malcolm Bonner; great-great grandson, Brock Bonner; her very special friends, Deacon Odell and Evang. Sarah Armstrong; two bonus daughters, Annie Wilks and Dorothy Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
