Edith Arlene Johnson was born on June 2, 1968 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She attended Shelbyville Central High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was baptized into Christ at an early age and attended the Bird Street congregation. She later made her home in Murfreesboro.

Edith departed this life on Saturday, April 4, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by a brother Michael Glenn Johnson and maternal and paternal grandparents, Samuel H. and Edith E. Rankins and Willis and Callie M. Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her parents, Glenn and Sammie Johnson; son, Christian E. Johnson-Collins; sister, Jeneia M. (Alvin) Crawford; nephew, Travis Crawford; niece, Kayla Crawford; “like a brother” Aled Marable; five aunts, Hazel (Richard) Gant, Rosie (Michael) Biggs, Shirley (Odie) Wingfield, Delbra Ray and Delores Johnson; three uncles, Walter (Phyllis) Rankins, Andrew Rankins and Willis (Ida Mae) Johnson, Jr.; childhood playmates and cousins, Valorie McNair Kennedy and Janet Lanier Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
