Mrs. Dorothy J. McClain was born on June 14, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Dorothy was baptized at a young age at Jackson Street Church of Christ, under the direction of Bro. Graham McGill. In April of 1953, she married the love of her life, the late Clifford McClain, Sr to whom she was married to for 45 years.

Dorothy had several jobs in which she loved very much. She was a nurse at Saint Thomas, a cook at Dots Snack Bar, she loved to sell Avon and took pride in being a housewife. One of her favorite things to do each day was to sing.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents John Henry & Hannah Couch; husband Clifford McClain, Sr.; two daughters, Carol McClain and Penelope “Penny” McClain; two sisters, Gloria “Teddy” Jackson and Mildred Ross; two brothers, Harry Sexton and Harold Sexton; granddaughter, Nicolette “Nikki” Threat; great grandson, Anthony London; daughter-in-law, Teresa McClain; two sisters-in-law, Betty McClain and Mildred Ann McClain; and three brothers-in-law, Alva McClain, Maurice McClain and Franklin Young.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children, Shirley (Joseph) Johnson, Clifford McClain, Jr., Sharon McClain and Audrey (Larry) Elliott; grandchildren, Tianna Onyebuagu, Anthony (Trellis) Johnson, L’qisha McClain, Malisa Whitsey, Jannetta McClain and Antjuan Johnson; great grandchildren, Kenneth, DJ, Ze’Keijha, Alexandria, Myiah, Alisa, Faith, Anthony, Jayden, Natasha, Tarvis and Essence, great great grandchildren, Nevaeh and DJ, III; sisters, Evelyn Weddington and Carolyn Dupree; brother, Thomas Sexton; sisters-in-law, Inez Young and Elizabeth McClain; brothers-in-law, George McClain and Ricky McClain; devoted friends, Graham McGill, Larry Robertson, Vinita Hardin, Ell T. Biggers, Stephanie Watson and Mary Buchanan; and a host of other relatives and friends
