Clara graduated from Lexington Attendance Center in 1961. After graduation, Clara moved to Chicago, IL where she met and married Stanford Murry, Sr. on November 14, 1964. They were married for 55 years.

Clara attended Lydia Adams Beauty College and graduated as a Licensed Beauty Culturist in 1966. In the mid 1970’s, in partnership with her husband, and friend Juanita Holmes, they opened Fashion Flair Beauty Salon on the southside of Chicago. This establishment operated for over twenty years. In addition to mentoring and fostering relationships with many of her clients, stylist and shampoo girls. Clara used the salon as a great platform to introduce people to Christ. In 2000, Clara received a Cosmetology Instructor Certification from Dudley Beauty College and was licensed in Tennessee.

Clara accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Chicago, she became a member of Oakdale Covenant Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Willie B. Jemison. Throughout her tenure at Oakdale, Clara was a faithful member of the Senior Choir, Deaconess Board and a Sunday School teacher.  She lead children’s camp, youth retreat, vacation bible school and assisted with the cheerleading team. She loved her church and her Oakdale family.

Clara and Stanford Sr. moved to Murfreesboro, TN in 2001 after retirement. During their time in Tennessee, they were members of The Village Church (Pastor Stephens), Antioch Primitive Baptist (Pastor Russell) and finally, First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro on the leadership of Pastor McCarroll. Clara served each church as an Elder and Mother. She loved her church family and the church family loved her. She served the Lord and her church faithfully until her health failed.

Clara was called home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2020. She was surrounded by her family when she passed.
