Roy D. Holman was born on January 9, 1941 in Moore County to the late Willie Byrd and Mae Addie Holman.   He departed this life on February 28, 2020.

Roy accepted Christ and became a gospel preacher serving East Side Church of Christ, in Petersburg, for 37 years (1970-2007). He held yearly gospel meetings throughout the brotherhood and baptized many into the Body of Christ. His influence yielded many who became preachers themselves, including two of his sons. His preaching style kept you involved while the Word was being presented. After his tenure with East Side, he ministered at the West End Church of Christ in Chapel Hill, TN until he yielded the work due to health challenges.

He enjoyed the outdoors and purchased a farm where he grew hay and vegetables, sold tobacco, raised livestock, and provided a home for his family.

He became an entrepreneur by establishing Holman’s Plumbing & Heating, serving the Marshall County area. He had a benevolent spirit by helping others and at times provided free services to the elderly and others needing assistance.

He enjoyed frequently traveling to Fayetteville, Lynchburg, Lewisburg and Shelbyville to visit those confined in hospitals, their homes or long-term care facilities. He did this even while his health was failing.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother and father; five brothers, Johnny, Bob, Ed, Steve and Fred, a sister, Jean and a son Jerry Wayne Holman.

Those who will lovingly cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Annie Therissa Holman; three sons, Johnny Holman and James Holman both of Lewisburg, TN and Jimmy (Priscilla) Holman of Sugar Land, TX; one sister, Louise Waggoner of Manchester, TN; two brothers-in-law, John Thomas (Diane) Mayes and Joe Mayes; four sisters-in-law, Missouri Holman of Lynville, TN, Nancy O’Neal of Lewisburg, TN, Edna (Anthony) Williams of Louisville, KY, Mary Davis of Chicago, IL and Debbie Holman of Detriot, MI; two          grand-daughters, Ariyan Holman of Lewisburg, TN and Shayla Elliott of Sugar Land, TX; one grand-son Jerron Elliott of Goodlettsville, TN, one godchild Latoya Cross of Lewisburg, TN as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
