Monday, June 22, 2015 Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel Interment Robert O’Neal “RED” Leslie, was born in Limestone County Alabama on the 31st day of May, 1933 to the parents of the late Molly Tibbs and Robert Leslie (step mother Roberta Leslie). Robert married his true love Odessa Maclin in June of 1953 and to this union they were blessed with three children, Gwen “Nita”, Juanita “Darlene” and Rose. They raised their granddaughter Teaquicia as if she were their own. Robert was a dedicated and loyal employee of U.S. Steel Corporation “LTV Steel” until his retirement. He received many accommodations for his outstanding productivity, as well as, perfect attendance for his 33 1/3 years of service. Robert continued to work after his retirement from LTV Steel as an over the road truck driver. He freelanced with Simon’s Farm trucking from 1993 until 2011. Robert made many friends and impacted many lives. Robert was everyone’s dad and granddad. He was a mentor, counselor, advisor, teacher, cook, farmer, COMEDIAN, time keeper, match maker and loyal friend. Robert peacefully made his transition to Christ and from time to eternity surrounded by family on June 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by three brothers Vann, Eddie Gene, and H.L. Leslie and two sisters Aileen Kelso and Linda Kennerly. Robert leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: a loving wife, Odessa; three daughters, Nita, Darlene and Rose; honorary son, Clinton Cunningham; ten grandchildren, Tanithia, Anthony, Cynthia, Teaquicia, Teaqulia, Charles, Teamm’a, Kierra, George and Tymekey’a; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
