Joseph Michael Collier, was born February 28, 1961, in Rutherford County, TN to George A. Collier, Sr. and Betty Jane Collier. Joseph, nicknamed “Spudney”, lived most of his life in Hickory Grove and Murfreesboro, TN. Joseph, “Spudney” Collier, 53 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

Joseph graduated from Oakland High School in 1979. He attended Job Corp Training, where he earned his certificate in Carpentry. He met and married his wife, Janice Summers Collier on May 15, 1995. With this union, they had two sons, Michael Joseph, Jr. and Joe Joe Eugene. Joseph loved collecting “Hot Wheel Cars”, but what he loved most was being a husband and father. Joseph was baptized into Christendom at the State Street Church of Christ under the late Bro. James Caldwell. Joseph was a man who loved God, a devoted husband, devoted father, and he was always willing to help others. He will always be remembered for leaving his family and friends with the last words, “I LOVE YOU.”

Joseph “Spudney” Collier was survived by his lovely and devoted wife, Janice Summers Collier of 20 years; sons, Joseph Michael, Jr. and Joe Joe Eugene; parents, George A. Collier, Sr., and Betty Jane Collier; two sisters, Roberta Ann James of Murfreesboro, TN and Stacy L. (Bruce A., Sr.) Shepherd of Murfreesboro , TN; five brothers, George A. (Mary T.) Collier, Jr. of Smyrna, TN, Larry E. Collier of Mufreesboro, TN, Lance I. Collier of Murfreesboro, TN, Eli O. Collier of Rockvale, TN and Tracy L.
