Felix Johnson was the sixth child and second born son of Henry and Cornelia Johnson. Felix was born June 5, 1929 in Murfreesboro, TN. He departed this earthly home on October 14, 2017. Felix was educated in Rutherford County, TN schools. He began work early as a horse groomer/handler with the Tennessee Walking Horses.

He later worked at Middle Tennessee State University Campus School as custodian until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.

Felix had an open-door policy: if someone needed a place to stay for a few days or months he welcomed them into his home. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was usually sound advice and meaningful.

He was well known and loved in the Murfreesboro community in which he lived all his life. Friends and neighbors could always expect to see him sitting on the front porch with a friendly wave and smile when they walked or drove by his home.

Felix is preceded in death by daughter, Telesa; and Brothers: John Henry Johnson, Frank Johnson, James Johnson; Sisters: LaVonia Lytle, Betty “Liza” Johnson, Lucille Spy, Katie Couts, and Jennie Johnson.

He is survived by Daughters: Teresa Benford and Kennetha Batten; Sisters: Elizabeth Woods, Eleanor (Robert) Harvell, Georgia Johnson, Girldine (John) McKnight, Katherine (Eldridge “Sonny”) Bell.

He leaves to miss him dearly six grandchildren; a host of nephews and nieces three generations strong; as well as longtime friends and neighbors.
