Elder Daniel “Danny” Carmichael, Jr. was born on February 2, 1957 to the late Daniel Carmichael, Sr. and Katherine Kelso Neese in Fayetteville, TN. Elder Carmichael professed a hope in Christ and at an early age joined Mt. Zion M.B. Church under the tutelage of Rev. Simmie Sanders. Educated in the Fayetteville City School system, Elder Carmichael graduated from Central High School in 1975 and went on to attend Oakwood University and Middle Tennessee State University. His hobbies included reading, writing poetry and studying the bible, of which he became a scholar.

Elder Carmichael accepted his call to the ministry under the pastorate of the late Rev. Gary R. Hill preaching his first sermon at St. Paul AME Church. He served as Assistant Pastor at Blessed Hope Church of God in Christ in Tullahoma, TN until his health failed him in 2003. Known for his charismatic sense of humor in the preach word, Elder Carmichael delivered many soul stirring sermons such as: “Everything is Going to Be Alright,” “These are the Days of Our Lives,” and “B.I.B.L.E.: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth” just to name a few. His favorite saying was, “I went from Budweiser to being wiser.”

On Saturday, February 21, 2015 at a quarter past the 3:00 hour, Elder Carmichael entered into eternal rest at the Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Elder Carmichael was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Carmichael, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted family, mother, Katherine Kelso Neese; step-mother, Dorothy Carmicle; siblings, Rickie (Glenda), Cortez (Gwen), Barbara Allen, Nancy Hockett (Thomas), Pastor Craig Carmichael (Jackie), Djuana Jester and Frederick Carmichael, Sr. (Sonya); extended families, Neese and Buchanans; 19 devoted nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; four uncles, Freddie and Harold McKinney (Vicki), Billy and Nathaniel Carmicle (Thelma); six aunts, Bobbie Whitaker, Martha Fuller, Carol Conley, Ernestine Kelso, Cornelia Woods and Estelle Carmicle; and many cousins and lifelong friends, Mitchell Bone and Sarah Rhoden.
