Charles Wade was born to Robert L. Wade and Mary Francis Batten Wade on September 8, 1933, in Murfreesboro, TN.  He departed this life on March 28, 2023.

He was baptized at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.  He attended Murfreesboro City Schools.  He graduated from Holloway High School.

Charles was a career military man.  He was in the Navy for 20 years then he transferred to Fleet Reserve and continued his career with the Federal Government as a marine mechanic.  He traveled the world building and repairing navy ships.  He was dedicated to serving his country.

He was married to Betty Sue Brandon Wade from June 10, 1964, until her death on May 15, 1995.  He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia for most of his military years.  Sometimes he would be gone three or four months at a time.  He retired after 40 years and returned to Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Wade and Mary Francis Batten Wade; mother-in-law, Lorell Brown Brandon and father-in-law, Gilbert Brandon; brothers, James, Felix, Jesse Sr. and Henry Wade; brother-in-law, Gilbert Brandon; niece, Yolonda Wade-Bush; nephews, Henry Wade (Buddy) and Cory Wade Bush.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted niece and caregiver, Minister Phylis Wade; sisters-in-law, Jo Ella Wade, Lenda Wade and Alice Brandon; other brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence (Margurite) Brandon, LeRoy (Barbara) Brandon, Larry (Katherine) Brandon and Ronnie (Felicia) Burney; god-daughter, Tatem Spruill; nieces and nephews, Sharon Stevenson, Jesse Wade Jr., Andrea Brandon, Rodney Brandon, LaKisha Brandon, LeMarshall Burney, Tajuana Burney Haynes, Kesha Burney, Demond Brandon, Pamela Denise Brandon Watson and Larry Douglas Brandon II; aunt, Carrie Batten; other great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted cousin, Diane Patterson; and dear friends, Adrienne Brandon, Ida B. Frazier and Margaret Davis.

Charles loved going to the theaters to see every new movie on the day they premiered.  Then he would tell us “You need to see that”, or “it wasn’t much”.

He also went to every new restaurant that opened.  He would tell us all about it, then carry us to the restaurant to see what we thought about it.

He had a laugh that was just contagious causing everyone to laugh with him.  He will be missed by his family and friends.
