Mary Ann Verge Jones was born on December 4th, 1970 in Murfreesboro, TN to Alberta Leath Verge & O.Z. Verge Sr, in from Murfreesboro, TN.

Mary was active in her youth, she loved to dance, sing, hangout with friends, and hand out "butt whoopins" on the basketball court! She was a standout basketball player at Riverdale High School, proudly wearing jersey number 43 and leaving a lasting impression on teammates and classmates alike. Upon graduation from Riverdale, Mary attended Walter State Junior College where she also played basketball.

Mary loved to support others when she could and worked at Matthew Walker Health Center for more than ten years before she had to leave to prioritize her own health.

Mary's faith was an important part of her life and provided her with strength, guidance, and comfort throughout her journey. She was an active member at Payne Chapel AME Church in Nashville, TN as well as an active member at Ebeneezer Primitive Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. At Payne Chapel she served on the Praise team and was a member of the choir.

On February 7, 2026, Mary departed this life in Nashville, Tennessee. She is now resting peacefully in God's hands, rejoicing among the angels. She was preceded in death by her parents O.Z. Verge Sr. & Alberta Leath Verge, and brother O.Z. Verge Jr. Mary was deeply loved and will be cherished by those she leaves behind, including her devoted partner, Karla Bunch; her loving children, Mayana A. Ware and Dayquan D. Jones; her brothers, John (Jake) Verge and Johnathan "Dale" Verge, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her beloved goddaughters, Alexis Kelly and Imani Bunch; her treasured grandchildren, Tyren Williams, Ayden Jackson, Ralynn Jones, Dayquan Jones Jr., and Elijah Jones. She also leaves behind a host of devoted friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude and love for the outpouring love and support for Mary and those who loved her. Mary will be remembered for her strength, love for her family, vibrant spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
