A celebration of life is being held in honor of Irvin Leonard Dawkins, affectionately known as "Lenny”, a man whose presence, infectious personality, wisdom, and quiet strength touched countless lives.
Born July 27, 1940, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on November 10, 2025. Lenny now joins in eternal rest his parents, Reverend Irvin Dawkins and Reverend Ann Dawkins; his loving wife, Marion Dawkins; his devoted brother, Edward Dawkins; and his stepson, Treven Hampton.
He was a proud graduate of Aliquippa High School and served his country honorably in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Following his service, he made New England his home, where he built a long and dedicated career at Pratt & Whitney before retiring in 1986. In 2019, he settled in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he enjoyed peaceful living surrounded by family and fellowship.
Lenny had a charm that drew people toward him. Whether sharing a laugh, offering wisdom, or simply being present, he was loved by all. He treasured family, tradition, and connection. He loved to travel, attend family reunions, and proudly cheer for the Aliquippa Quips and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Tammy Dawkins, Lennie Dawkins, Tanya Dawkins Early (Maceo); and Rob Johnson, along with 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece Anita Dawkins, great-niece Aleeta Kimbrough, and nephews Ed Dawkins and Carlos Dawkins. Each held a meaningful and special place in his heart.
Lenny lived a life rich with purpose, loyalty, and love. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
