Gerry McClain Carney was born September 28. 1951, to the late Randall and Carrie Carney in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He was a Deacon and Chairman at the Israelite P.B. Church. He was educated in the Rutherford County School system and a proud graduate of the Central High School and a graduate of M.T.S.U. with a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He worked at the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal, Internal Revenue Services (IRS). He was a certified public accountant Dialysis Clinic White Bridge Road and numerous other jobs.
Gerry’s hobbies were demolishing buildings and cutting grass.
Gerry was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Rucker, Dorothy Boyd and Ida Mai Clark; and brothers, James Robert Smith, Vernal Eugene Smith and Randal Carney, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Susie Carney of 41 years; loving sons, Gerry Carney, Jr. and Tony Alexander; grandson, DeTorrius Cortez; sisters, Margaret (Ozell) Edwards, Katheline Turner and Barbara (Bruce) Andrews; brother, Elbert (Lottie) Carney; brothers-in-law, Reverend George Clark, Henry (Duanna) Miller, Kenneth (Natalie) Miller and Leon (Arline) Miller; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dixon, Freida Johnson, Stisanina (Jerry) Osborne, Wanda Anthony and Fannie Carney; he was blessed with so many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
