Memorial Service
Evelina Badger transitioned peacefully on a bright spring day, surrounded by the love and legacy she built throughout her life. She was known for her warmth, strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and community.
She was born in Walls, Mississippi, to James Badger and Rosie Lee Ricks (Badger). She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings Narvel and Cardel.
Evelina was the proud mother of four children: Brenda Badger, Anthony (Debra) Washington, Irving Earl Washington, and Reginald (Lesli) Washington. She was affectionately known as “Bigma,” a name that speaks to the role she played as the heart of her family.
She leaves behind a powerful legacy carried on through her grandchildren: Onteaya (Antonio) Tate, Ivory (Solomon) Hatch, Brenda Badger, Marquis (Erica) Watson, Antonio (Ashley) Watson, Felicia Collins, Reginald Nash, Qiandre “Nikki” White, Domonique Washington, Jamal (Brittany) Washington, Latasha Washington, Tyonna Windbush, Misha Cooper, Tinesha (Lamont) Matthews, and Johnny Harris.
She was cherished and adored by her 36 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelina is also remembered with love by her siblings: Preitus Mitchner, Charles (Dale) Mitchner, Bill (Helena) Badger, Pearl (Randolph) Taylor, Elliot (Celeste) Badger, Debra Lawson, Lynn Badger, Horace Badger, and James (Betty) Mason. She was preceded in death by Dorothy Mitchner and Garfield Lawson. She is cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She absolutely loved her church family at Faith Family Chattanooga Church, where she was surrounded by members who truly cared for her.
Evelina’s life was one of strength, faith, and endless love. She gave freely, cared deeply, and left this world better than she found it. Her spirit lives on in every life she touched.
