Dale Strickland's Funeral Service
Dale Ransom Strickland was born on September 10, 1955, to the union of Obed Strickland and Johnnie Lou Pierce Strickland in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Dale was the youngest of five siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Obed and Johnnie L. Strickland, and his sister, Donna Marie Strickland.
Dale attended the Murfreesboro public school system and graduated from Riverdale/Oakland High School. He later attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he studied engineering and drafting for several years.
Dale accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro. He initially sang in the church choir and later served on the usher board, where he found great joy in serving the congregation. Desiring to deepen his faith, Dale also participated in Bible study. He remained active in church life until serious health challenges limited his ability to attend regularly.
While studying at MTSU, Dale became interested in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Dale crossed at Mu Zeta in 1975. He has been a faithful charter member of the Pi Gamma Gamma Chapter for over 38 years. Dale loved his fraternity deeply and remained an active and dedicated member, attending events, meetings, and activities whenever possible. Even as his health declined, he continued to support the fraternity’s initiatives. The brotherhood held a special place in his heart.
Dale began his professional career at an early age with Kroger Company, where he worked faithfully for many years until his retirement. In addition to his career at Kroger, Dale officiated youth basketball and T-ball games and worked for a period as a school monitor within the Tennessee school system.
Dale also proudly served his country as a member of the Tennessee Air Force Reserve, where he later focused on avionics communications. During his military service, Dale became the proud father of his only child, Raymond. He cherished fatherhood and was actively involved in Raymond’s life, attending his games, practices, and workouts. Dale was especially proud to see Raymond graduate and later serve in the United States Navy.
Dale lived life to the fullest. He loved traveling, entertaining friends, listening to music, and capturing memories through photography. He enjoyed meeting new people wherever he went and was known for his joyful laugh—one that was truly unforgettable.
Dale courageously battled illness for many years. His life’s journey ended on Saturday, December 13, 2025, while under the care of Stones River Northside Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center. His pain and suffering have ceased, and he now rests peacefully in the arms of the Lord. Dale will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Raymond C. Caruthers (GA); his brother, William L. Strickland (Edna) (FL); two sisters, Odestine Strickland-Roland (MI) and Judy C. Woodard (MI); sister-in-law, Peggy Sanders Howse (FL); nephews, Randall Woodard (Thelma) (MI) and Vidal L. Strickland (TN); nieces, Tania L. Woodard (MI) and Donita K. Jones (Jay) (FL); five great-nieces; two great-nephews; special friend, Pamela Crawford; and a host of cousins, other relatives, fraternity brothers, and friends.
