Mother Betty Lue Cooper was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on February 22nd, 1941, to the union of the late William Clifford Fletcher, Sr. and the late Sue Avent Fletcher who preceded her in their transition.

On Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, she peacefully transitioned to her eternal home to be present with the Lord, surrounded by her family.

She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and served faithfully in church dedicating her time and heart to the work of the Lord at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, in Murfreesboro, TN; Brights Temple Church in Shelbyville, TN; Born Again in Nashville, TN; Jesus Oasis in Murfreesboro, TN; and Family Worship Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

Betty Lue entered her profession working in Chromolax factory. Her heart was always focused on serving the Lord. She devoted her life to Christ and made it her mission to share his love and bring others to know him. Her life was a true testament of faith, devotion and love for God. She was a faithful servant of God who brought countless people to Him and led many to salvation through her unwavering faith and testimony.

Betty Lue was the oldest of ten children: she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Wesley; her brothers, Elbert Fletcher, and William Fletcher Jr. “Bad Thang”; and sisters, Mildred Sue Turner, Evelyn Fletcher Womack, Gloria Jean Lane, Dorothy Good and Wilma Henderson.

Betty Lue was married for 38 years to the late James Davis “Sonny” Cooper and to their union six children were born. Betty Lue Cooper will sadly be missed by a devoted and loving family, Edward (Linda) Cooper, Beverly BartKowiak, Wanda Delores Frierson, Melissa Ann Cooper, Wendy Cooper and adoptive daughter, Linda Tomlin; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Lee Butler (Tommy) Hathaway, and Benita B. Allen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
